About the Author

Ludwig Wittgenstein was born in Vienna, Austria on April 26, 1889. He is one of the most important philosophers of the 20th century and is regarded as a model of genius. His major works include Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus, Philosophical Investigations, Philosophical Grammar, Culture and Value, etc. He served as a researcher at Trinity College, Cambridge University from 1930, and later became a professor and resigned in 1947. In 1949, Wittgenstein was diagnosed with cancer. In the last period of his life, he lived in the home of a doctor friend in Cambridge and continued to write philosophy until the last two days of his life. He passed away on April 29, 1951.

Translator | Chen Jiaying is a senior professor of the Department of Philosophy at Capital Normal University. He has taught at the Department of Philosophy at Peking University and the Department of Philosophy at East China Normal University. His major works include Reasoning, Philosophy, Science, and Common Sense, What is a Good Life, Beyond the View of the Only Truth, and Reasons for Value. His translations include Being and Time and Philosophical Research.
