In the spring of 1952, Mr. Qian Mu was invited by relevant parties to give five lectures on the topic of "Political Gains and Losses of Chinese Dynasties". "Political Gains and Losses of Chinese Dynasties" was compiled by Mr. Qian Mu based on his lecture notes. It analyzes and comments on the political gains and losses of the Han, Tang, Song, Ming and Qing dynasties from four aspects: "Government Organization", "Examination and Election", "Tax System" and "National Defense and Military Service System". It is a must-read book for studying traditional Chinese politics and traditional culture.

Qian Mu (1895-1990), courtesy name Binsi, was a famous historian from Wuxi, Jiangsu. He started out as a rural primary school teacher in 1912, and later taught at middle school and university, successively teaching at Yenching University, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Southwest Associated University, etc. In 1949, he went to Hong Kong alone and founded New Asia College. He settled in Taiwan in 1967.
