Description
Introduction
To understand Chinese art is to understand the aesthetic language of the Chinese people. 24 dynasties, 50 famous artists, and 300 paintings have built a 5,000-year-long heritage of elegance.
This book tells the evolution of Chinese art style, techniques and themes in a chronological order, and analyzes the unique spiritual pursuits of the Chinese people contained in works from past dynasties: the hope for harmony between man and nature can be seen in the rock paintings of the Paleolithic Age, the adherence to the ritual and music system can be seen in the bronzes of the Shang and Zhou dynasties, the Buddhist spirit of compassion for the world can be seen in the Dunhuang murals, and the lofty sentiments of literati can be seen in the landscape paintings... China in art is both elegant and distant, and solemn and magnificent.
We can see the ancient and modern aesthetic tastes of the Chinese people, and also see the endless creativity of the Chinese people. See China in art.
