This book is Hassan Fassay's autobiography in the form of notes spanning decades, telling the design, construction and reflection of the new village of Gurna. Since the 1940s, Hassan Fassay has been looking for answers to modern housing problems in the long history of Egypt, injecting the power of modern architecture into the development of the countryside, facing unknown challenges alone, and pioneering local construction methods. He has invested a lot of time and energy in projects that are difficult to complete, and has personally carried out construction practices with craftsmen and farmers to prevent floods and fight epidemics.
About the Author
Lu Jiansong: Winner of UIA Sgutas Special Award (2022). Professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Architecture, Hunan University; Doctor of Engineering at the School of Architecture, Tsinghua University, postdoctoral fellow in philosophy at the School of Humanities, Tsinghua University; visiting scholar at the University of Virginia, USA.
