Born in Taipei in 1978. He holds a bachelor's degree in international relations from the Department of Political Science at National Taiwan University, a master's degree in law and diplomacy from the Fletcher School in the United States, and is also an Edison Fellow at the British Library and a doctorate in music from King's College, London.
He has published music reviews, essays and prose since he was 15 years old. His works include music research, interpretation discussion, technique analysis, musician interviews, international competition reports and literary creation. He has written three books of music review anthologies "Classic CD Perspective" (Lianjing, 2005), "Mozart Music CD Review" (Lianjing, 2006), "Playing Black and White: Interviews with Pianists Around the World" (Lianjing, 2007; the first volume of the Japanese edition was published by Alphabeta Publishing in June 2014), column anthologies "Music Comes Music Thinks" (Lianjing, 2008) and "Hearing Chopin" (Lianjing, 2010).
In addition to writing, Jiao Yuanpu also serves as the planner of the Taiwan Philharmonic Orchestra's "Focus Lectures", artistic director of the "20×10 Chopin Music Festival" and the "Debussy Touch Piano Music Festival", and radio host of Taichung Classical Music Station FM 97.7 and Taipei Bravo FM 91.3's "Focus Music" and "NSO Live Cloud Concert Hall". The former won the Golden Bell Award for Best Non-Popular Music Program (2013).
