Description
This is the author's longest novel trilogy. Toru Okada, an unemployed man, finds his wife Kumiko missing after she is pressured by her brother, Noboru Wataya, a Member of Parliament and representative of dark forces. Okada is surrounded by many strange people: a sorceress, a "consciousness prostitute", a girl who accidentally caused her boyfriend's death in a car accident, a former soldier, and more. Many strange things also happen. After meditating in a deep well, Okada emerges and, with the help of the strange mother and son "Nutmeg" and "Cinnamon", challenges Noboru Wataya, wounding him in a dream, and Kumiko then kills him in reality. This book is bizarrely colored, grand in scale, interwoven with reality and fantasy, and is known as the contemporary "One Thousand and One Nights."
