Yu Qian is a crosstalk artist of China Railway Art Troupe and a member of Deyun Club. In 1982, he was admitted to the crosstalk class of Beijing Opera School and studied under famous crosstalk artists Wang Shichen, Luo Rongshou, Gao Fengshan and Zhao Shizhong. In 1985, he became a disciple of Mr. Shi Fukuan. In 1995, he graduated from the Film and Television Directing Department of Beijing Film Academy. He has performed crosstalk with Guo Degang since 2002 and has published the work "Play".
