"Of Mice and Men" was first published in 1937 and is one of John Steinbeck's representative works. The title of the book comes from the poem by British poet Burns, "Among mice and men, the best-laid plans are often unexpected", which implies the tragic fate of the little people.

John Steinbeck (1902-1968) is an American writer and winner of the 1962 Nobel Prize in Literature. He created 27 works in his lifetime, including Pancake Flat (1935), Of Mice and Men (1937), Red Pony (1937), The Grapes of Wrath (1939), Cannery Row (1945), East of Eden (1952), and The Troubled Winter (1961). The Grapes of Wrath also won the 1939 National Book Award and the 1940 Pulitzer Prize.
Steinbeck is not only a literary master, but also one of the most popular best-selling authors among the American people. To date, his works have sold nearly 100 million copies, more than half of which are his two masterpieces, "The Grapes of Wrath" and "Of Mice and Men".
