The Benevolent Relations is a collection of novellas and short stories by Hungarian writer László Krasznahorkai, featuring eight stories including his representative works The Traps of Zsúzs and The Barber’s Hand. His works are often categorized as postmodern novels due to their peculiar sentence structures, vague settings, elusive meanings, highly discontinuous plots, often radial structures, perpetually ambiguous narrators, and endings imbued with a sense of mystery. In addition, the preface written by Professor Yu Zemin for the work is also excellent, not only detailing the author's creative journey but also analyzing Krasznahorkai’s almost insane "China complex" with firsthand accounts based on his own experiences, which will undoubtedly bring readers closer to the work.

The Benevolent Relations is a treasure trove akin to a mysterious forest; though the path of reading may be arduous and winding, there are always surprises and moving moments awaiting discovery. In Hungarian literature, Krasznahorkai's long sentences are unique, posing a reading challenge even for Hungarian readers. The sentence structures are difficult to read yet rewarding, delicate yet rough, complex, grand, and full of rhythm. It is said that the English translator of his works won a translation award because critics believed he "invented a Krasznahorkai-esque English."
