Description

Introduction
At the end of 2010, Li Juan followed the family of Kazakh herder Juma to the winter pasture deep in the desert of Altay region in northern Xinjiang and spent the whole winter there. In the long cold world, Li Juan recorded in detail what she saw and heard on this ancient, barren and vast land: herders migrated, herded, carried snow, embroidered felts, prepared the ground and cleaned the livestock pens, and visited each other in a grand and luxurious manner... Hard and heavy labor is the daily life and the pleasure and dignity of the vast and lonely life. This is the most turbulent and difficult season in the nomadic life of the Kazakh people who live by water and grass. As time goes by and the material world becomes richer, this way of life will gradually disappear. Fortunately, Li Juan's words truly restore this scene - the winter of herders and livestock, "the life of a sheep is the year of a shepherd."

Editor's Recommendation:
Deep in the barren and cold desert, Li Juan lived with the Kazakh herdsmen for an entire winter.
In the turbulent life of moving from place to place, winter migration is the most difficult part. Li Juan tells the story of the winter nomadic culture of the Kazakh herdsmen with deep affection and restraint, and records the nomadic landscape of the northern Xinjiang in a panoramic manner.
The fate of mankind and the fate of the wilderness are closely linked and interdependent. In the great cold, Li Juan wrote about the small ball of warmth and peace that tiny humans spread out with their hands - although weak, it is enough to compete with the harsh reality.
