Introduction · · · · · ·
Beyond Good and Evil is the sister book of On the Genealogy of Morals. This book consists of a preface, nine chapters and a finale, including philosophical arguments, aphorisms, short reviews, poems and other discourse styles, involving various classic questions in the Western philosophical tradition, such as: What is the self? What is knowledge? Why do we seek to know? What is the essence of religion? What is the relationship between religion and philosophy? It can be regarded as a grand prelude to the future philosophy in Nietzsche's mind. In this work, Nietzsche, as always, "uses a hammer to engage in philosophy", and strikes hard at the Western metaphysical tradition, especially "Platonism". The "will to power", the most important concept in Nietzsche's late thought, is also highlighted in this work, becoming a key concept to help people break the prejudices in their minds and think sincerely from the "beyond good and evil".
