※EM Cioran is one of the greatest philosophers in modern Europe and is known as the "Nietzsche of the 20th century". His works are known for their fragmentary form and their reflections on pain, suffering, nihilism and other issues. They enjoy a high reputation internationally and have been translated into more than a dozen languages. Many contemporary masters, such as Susan Sontag, Italo Calvino, Milan Kundera, Paul Celan, and Samuel Beckett, unanimously praise his works.
※ "On the Peak of Despair" is EM Cioran's debut work and one of his most important representative works. The existentialist despair in it is shocking and inspiring, showing a novel, lyrical, and anti-systematic philosophical style, which laid the tone for his creation and became the ideological source of his subsequent works. It is a must-read work to understand Cioran's ideological context.
