About the Author

Richard H. Wilkinson

Richard H. Wilkinson (1951-), an archaeologist in the field of Egyptology, is a professor emeritus and doctor at the University of Arizona, and the first director of the university's Egypt Expedition. He conducted research and excavations in Egypt, mainly in the Valley of the Kings, for 25 years, and served as the founding editor of the "Directory of North American Egyptologists" and the "Journal of Ancient Egypt Communications".

Yan Haiying

Professor and doctoral supervisor of the Department of History at Peking University, Director of the Institute of Ancient Oriental Civilizations at Peking University, editor-in-chief of the first volume of "History of World Civilization", postdoctoral fellow at the University of Leuven in Belgium, visiting scholar at Cairo University in Egypt, with academic expertise in Egyptology. His recent major works include "Ancient Egyptian Cultural Relics in Chinese Collections", and he has published many papers in academic journals such as "Historical Research" and "World History". He has presided over the National Social Science Fund project "Research on Ancient Egyptian Temple Books and Rituals", the horizontal project "Organization and Interpretation of Oriental Philosophical Books", and the Beijing Excellent Course "Ancient Oriental Civilization".

Graduated from the English Department of Renmin University of China, and obtained a master's degree from the University of Glasgow. I have loved ancient Egyptian culture since I was a child, so after working in a foreign company for a few years, I started my journey as a doctoral candidate in Egyptology. I have published many articles introducing ancient Egypt in the "Private History" column of The Paper, and I am determined to restore the distant world on the banks of the Nile through writing.
