The story tells about the period of the "Hundred Days" of Napoleon, the French Emperor in the 19th century. Edmond Dantès, the first mate of the Pharaoh, was entrusted by the captain to deliver a letter for Napoleon's party. He was framed by two despicable villains and the judge and thrown into a dark prison. During this period, his cellmate, Father Faria, taught him all kinds of knowledge and told him the secret of a batch of treasures buried on the island of Monte Cristo before his death. After being framed and imprisoned for fourteen years, Dantès escaped from prison and found the treasure, becoming a wealthy man. From then on, he changed his name to the Count of Monte Cristo (Sailor Sinbad, Father Busoni, Lord Wilmore), and after careful planning, he repaid his benefactors and punished his enemies.

Alexandre Dumas (July 24, 1802 - December 5, 1870), also known as Alexandre Dumas, was a 19th-century French romantic writer. Alexandre Dumas wrote more than 300 volumes of works, mainly novels and plays. His representative works include: Henry III and His Court (play), The Count of Monte Cristo (novel), The Three Musketeers (novel), etc.

Dumas was a republican and opposed monarchy. He participated in the July Revolution of 1830, the revolution that overthrew the July Monarchy in 1848, and Garibaldi's conquest of the Kingdom of Naples. On December 5, 1870, Dumas died at the age of 68. In 2002, 132 years after his death, his remains were moved to the Pantheon in France.

Most of Alexandre Dumas' novels are based on real history, with twists and turns in the plot, often unexpected, and are known as historical thrillers. The clear structure, vivid and powerful language, and flexible and witty dialogues are the characteristics of Alexandre Dumas' novels. Alexandre Dumas is therefore praised by later generations as the "King of Popular Novels".
