Jun'ichi Watanabe, a Japanese literary master, national writer, and winner of the Japanese government's "Medal with Purple Ribbon".
Born in Hokkaido, Japan in 1933. Graduated with a doctorate from Sapporo Medical University in 1958, he began literary creation while teaching and practicing medicine at his alma mater. His early works were mainly medical themes, and gradually expanded to historical and biographical novels. His love novels based on medical knowledge and life experience, which delve into the essence of men and women, are particularly popular with readers. "Paradise Lost" alone has sold more than 6 million copies in Japan, and "Shadowless Lamp" has been adapted into TV dramas four times, which has led to sales of more than 5 million copies. He has won many literary awards, and his works have been translated into dozens of languages and published in various countries. He has hundreds of millions of readers around the world and has published more than 300 works to date. He died in April 2014.
