Description

Introduction · · · · · ·
This is a landmark work of feminist literary criticism. A Literature of Their Own tells the stories of British female novelists from the 19th century to the present, and reconstructs a literary tradition that is unique to women. This book not only analyzes well-known novelists such as Charlotte Bronte, George Eliot, and Virginia Woolf, but also looks at the lives and works of many women who have been lost in literary history. Faced with the cynicism of male critics, the dilemma of balancing family and career, and the dilemma of gender identity, they still write as a profession and create an endless tradition of female literature.
