About the Author
A famous American feminist critic, Professor Emeritus of Princeton University, she was once the president of the Modern Language Association of America and a member of the Royal Society of Literature of the United Kingdom. She has won the Truman Capote Literary Criticism Award of the United States. She is active on radio and television in the UK and serves as a judge for the Booker Prize, the Orange Prize, and the National Book Award of the United States.
