Yang Jiang (1911-), formerly known as Yang Jikang, is a famous writer, translator and scholar from Wuxi, Jiangsu. She graduated from Soochow University and dropped out of the Graduate School of Tsinghua University. After marrying Qian Zhongshu in 1935, they went to study in Britain and France. She returned to China in the autumn of 1938 and served as a professor at the Shanghai Aurora Women's College of Arts and Sciences and the Foreign Languages Department of Tsinghua University. After 1955, she served as a researcher at the Institute of Foreign Literature of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Her major works include the plays "Come What You Want" and "Make a Fake Come True", and the novel "Taking a Bath". Her prose and essay collections include "Six Notes from the Cadre School", "Drinking Tea", "Miscellaneous Memories and Miscellaneous Writings", "The Three of Us", "Walking on the Edge of Life - Self-Questions and Answers", and translations of "Don Quixote", "Gil Blas", "Lazarillo de Tormes", "Phaedo", etc.
