Description

Introduction
This book is a traditional Danqing version of the Classic of Mountains and Seas published by China National Geographic Books. Ren Caifeng, a young artist born in the 1990s from the Central Academy of Fine Arts, spent ten years redrawing 150 silk-based colored pictures of gods and monsters. Professor Liu Zongdi, a scholar of the Classic of Mountains and Seas, gave a long introduction and full annotations and translations. This version of the Classic of Mountains and Seas is based on traditional Chinese painting techniques, hoping to present the magical and magnificent side of traditional Chinese culture to the public through art. He also incorporates modern consciousness into classical paintings, which conforms to the current national trend of aesthetics. At the same time, as a large book that records geographical products and religious myths in ancient times, its original text should not be ignored. The "Book of Monsters" is only one aspect of the Classic of Mountains and Seas. Professor Liu Zongdi's annotations and translations cut in from the perspective of natural history and folklore, showing another unknown side of the Classic of Mountains and Seas. This book is beautifully bound, illustrated, and highly readable, and can be used as the first choice for readers to read the Classic of Mountains and Seas.
