"Hiroshima mon amour" is a film script written by Duras for the filming of the same name. It is one of her most famous masterpieces. It tells the exotic love story between a French actress and a Japanese architect who were filming in Japan, interspersed with Hiroshima, which was hit by the atomic bomb, and the love tragedy between the actress and a German soldier in the small French town of Nevers during World War II.

Marguerite Duras (1914-1996): French novelist, playwright, film director, born Marguerite Donadieu, was born in Indochina and returned to France to settle down at the age of 18. She won international fame with the films Hiroshima Mon Amour (1959) and La Song de Indias (1975), and won the Goncourt Prize for her novel The Lover (1984).
