About the Author

Author | Romain Monnery

Born in Lyon, France in 1980.

He studied linguistics and communications at university, but after graduation he tried not to mention his degree. He was determined to become a journalist, and after leaving school he interned at various well-known French media outlets. Contrary to his expectations, these internships were quite boring, and in the end his bank account was empty. So he pulled himself out of this vicious cycle and went home to lie down.

Fortunately, his dream job finally came true: he published several short stories in Décapage magazine, and then published his first novel, Bed, Sofa, My Life. In 2014, this debut work was adapted into the movie "Easy and Free" by French director Benjamin Gedjie.

Moneri's other works include "Leap of the Shark", "The Superfluous Young People", "101 Letters of Resignation", etc. He also translated the poetry collections of American poet Charles Bukowski, "Drinking and Writing", "Storms of the Living and the Dead", and "On Love".

Translator | Lv Junjun

He graduated from the Department of French Language and Literature of Xiamen University and holds a master's degree from Aix-Marseille University. He is currently the editor-in-chief of "Post-Romanticism" and has translated many works including "The Lighthouse" and "The Taste of Hazelnuts".
