_________
"You'll definitely regret not having children!" In 2008, when Israeli sociologist Orna Donath began a social survey titled "Regretting Motherhood," this warning constantly echoed in her mind.
Is motherhood innate? Is becoming a mother a woman's natural calling? For the next five years, these questions accompanied Donath and her research, ultimately leading to the book "Regretting Motherhood: A Sociological Study."
In this book, Donath interviewed twenty-three Israeli women, regardless of their age, education level, or social class, who all had one thing in common: they were mothers. Through long-term follow-up interviews, Donath traced these women's journeys into motherhood, analyzed their emotional worlds before and after childbirth, and investigated how they understood and resolved the contradictions and conflicts during the child-rearing process. "Regretting Motherhood" uses women's own voices to present a three-dimensional and complex image of motherhood.
