Description

Introduction
In 1989, Fukuyama made his now-famous statement that history as we know it has come to an end. Ten years later, he revised his argument: We have not yet reached the end of history, because we have not yet reached the end of science. In this book, Fukuyama warns about the impact that the rapid development of biotechnology may have on human society. Fukuyama believes that today's technology has various ways to enhance and change human abilities, and in the future, this change may be more drastic. Currently, we use drugs and surgery to change our abilities, but in the near future, we will have genetic engineering and other methods to change the most basic characteristics of human beings. If biotechnology continues to develop unchecked, it will fundamentally change human nature and human society. This is what Fukuyama refers to as the "post-human future."
