"Our Generation", a masterpiece completed by Xiao Quan, a well-known Chinese portrait photographer, after spending ten years, comprehensively records the brilliant actions of the cultural and artistic circles in the 1980s and 1990s. Since its first publication in 1996, it has been a bestseller for more than 20 years.

The book includes more than 100 figures of the time, including Cui Jian, Chen Danqing, Tan Dun, Zhang Yimou, Chen Kaige, Gong Li, Dou Wei, Jiang Wen, Bei Dao, Gu Cheng, Haizi, Yu Hua, Shi Tiesheng, Jia Pingwa, Wang Anyi, Su Tong, Han Shaogong, Tang Dynasty Band, etc., nearly 500 photos, and 90,000 words.

In order to publish this new version, the author Xiao Quan searched through boxes and cabinets to find a lot of precious materials that have never been exposed.

Xiao Quan was born in Chengdu, Sichuan in 1959. In 1991, he published Birds of Paradise: A Collection of Sanmao’s Photography. Later, he published more than ten photography collections, including Our Generation, Beautiful Women in My Lens, and 2032: The Future We Expect.

In 2012, he was invited to shoot a public welfare film "2032: The Future We Want" for the United Nations, and was awarded the "Outstanding Contribution Award" by the United Nations; in 2019, the international version of "Our Generation" was published by RLZZOLI in Italy, and the international version launch conference was held in Milan and New York respectively.
