Yevgeny Zamyatin (1884-1937) was a Russian novelist, playwright and satirist, and the founder of dystopian novels.

In the form of a notebook, We depicts the life scenes of a totalitarian country called "One Nation" in the 26th century: everyone has only a number but no name, lives in a completely transparent glass house, wears the same uniform, eats chemical food, enjoys a rationed sex life, and is ruled by an all-powerful "benefactor" who never changes. We is Zamyatin's masterpiece, which created a new literary genre of dystopian novels. It is known as the most famous dystopian trilogy in the world literary world, along with Aldous Huxley's Brave New World and George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four.
