Content Introduction · · · · · ·
This book argues that power is the fundamental condition for the legitimacy of literature: on the one hand, power is the driving force of literary form; on the other hand, it is the result of its end or loss of legitimacy, because with the sharp decline of its position in the field of representation, literature is squeezed to the edge of power.
In order to strengthen the thesis of this book, the author also attached three case studies. The first article studies the ancient prose movement in the middle Tang Dynasty from the perspective of symbolic power. Starting from the analysis of cultural capital and social capital, the article re-discusses the reasons for the rise and fall of the movement in the middle Tang Dynasty. The second article combines the diachronic rupture of literary concepts analyzed in this book to conduct a systematic study on the historical evolution of Chinese popular literature and its possible development direction. The third article conducts a structural analysis of the relationship between economic power and literature from the specific perspective of film art. The article believes that as an art of dynamic images, film can bring audiences a much stronger intuitive pleasure than literature.
