Celeste Ng
A Chinese writer who conquered the European and American literary world. She grew up in Pennsylvania and Ohio, USA. Her parents are both scientists and she is the second generation of Hong Kong immigrants. She graduated from Harvard University's English Department and later entered the graduate school of the University of Michigan, where she received a master's degree in creative writing. Before publishing "Silent Confessions", she had been writing for many years, and her novels and essays were mostly seen in various literary journals and magazines.
"A Quiet Place" is Celeste Ng's debut novel which took her six years to write. The story is meticulously arranged and the writing is steady and restrained. It received wide acclaim once it was published, becoming a powerful and popular dark horse in 2014 and won the 2014 American Book of the Year award.
Little Fires is Celeste Ng's new work in 2017. Once published, it won the 2017 American Novel of the Year award, and then won 27 annual book awards in one go. The New York Times Book Review praised the book: "Extreme, intense, blazing, and heartbreaking, it is even better than Quiet."
