Wang Jiaxin, a poet, critic and translator, was born in Danjiangkou, Hubei in 1957. He was admitted to the Chinese Department of Wuhan University in 1978. He once worked in the editorial department of Poetry Magazine of the Chinese Writers Association and is currently a professor at the School of Literature of Renmin University of China. He has published more than 30 collections of poems, poetry criticism, poetry essays, translated poetry collections, and prose collections. He has also compiled and published many Chinese and foreign modern and contemporary poetry and poetry theory collections. He is an important poet with a wide and lasting influence in contemporary times. All his writings are regarded as "the revelation of contemporary Chinese poetry" (in the words of Wu Xiaodong). His works have been translated into many languages and published. He has been invited to participate in international poetry festivals and literary exchange activities many times, and has lectured and served as a resident poet at some foreign universities. He has won many domestic and international poetry awards, poetics criticism awards and translation awards.
