Description
Introduction · · · · · ·
"To Kill a Mockingbird" is a recognized classic of American literature, but its significance in the field of education has made it transcend national boundaries and become one of the most famous coming-of-age novels in the world. "To Kill a Mockingbird" has a huge influence in the Western world. It is a must-read book for American primary and secondary schools, the most borrowed book in libraries, and the favorite book of British teenagers. In a recent public opinion poll, it even overwhelmed the Bible and became the "most inspiring book."
The value of "To Kill a Mockingbird" lies in that it has created a model for human family education and provided highly practical examples and demonstrations. Unlike many fictional stories that try to keep children's hearts pure, it focuses on teaching children how to cultivate their demeanor in hardships, accumulate righteousness in unfairness, and how to shape their own moral bottom line and maintain spiritual decency in a world full of ugliness and problems. In addition, Atticus, the civilian hero father in the book, provides an educational manual for confused parents: how to identify children's problems, which ones are caused by age and should be given time to grow, which problems are the key to growth and are issues of principle and must be intervened in time; what kind of image should parents have, in a complex society, which aspects should be adapted and conformed to, and which aspects should insist on their own positions, even if they have to pay a price for it.
It can be said that the subject of "To Kill a Mockingbird" is eternal and transcends the limitations of the times. It is the struggle between faith and reality, the basis for creating a better world, and the confidence of mankind in itself. This is one of the reasons why "To Kill a Mockingbird" has been popular for a long time.
