Liang Xiaosheng, whose ancestral home is Rongcheng City, Shandong Province, was born in Harbin in September 1949. He worked as an educated youth in the Great Northern Wilderness. He graduated from the Chinese Department of Fudan University and worked as a screenwriter in Beijing Film Studio and China Children's Film Studio. He has served as a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, a member of the Chinese Writers Association, and a member of the Central Committee of the China Democratic League for many years. He has served as deputy director of the Art Committee of China Children's Film Studio, deputy director of the Children's Film Studio, member of the China Film Censorship Committee, and member of the China Film Import Censorship Committee. In 2011, he was also hired by Premier Wen Jiabao as a member of the National Museum of Literature and History. This is a very rare honor for writers. He is currently a professor at the School of Humanities, Beijing Language and Culture University.
