Description
Introduction · · · · · ·
"Sense and Sensibility" is a classic love story by Jane Austen. Elinor and Marianne were born in a respectable British country squire family. The elder sister is good at controlling her emotions with reason, but the younger sister is unrestrained in her emotions. When they encounter setbacks in love, they react differently: the elder sister endures humiliation and always treats others kindly; the younger sister is arrogant and almost collapses... The idle country squire's wife, the snobbish and ruthless brother and sister-in-law, the mercenary and hypocritical distant sisters, and the three lovers in the girl's heart, some of whom are morally corrupt, some of whom are upright and hesitant, all appear. It starts with a comedy, develops into a tragedy, and ends with a comedy. It is a classic story of a girl's marriage and love without a rich dowry.
About the Author · · · · · ·
Jane Austen (1775-1817), British novelist.
During his short life, he created works including "Pride and Prejudice", "Sense and Sensibility" and "Mansfield Park", which had a profound influence on later generations. He became the third writer after Shakespeare and Dickens to have his portrait printed on the pound banknote.
Born in the rural town of Steventon in 1775, after a short period of schooling, he read a lot of books under the guidance of his father and brother. He began writing in his teens and completed the first draft of his first novel, Pride and Prejudice, when he was about 20 years old, but it was not officially published until more than ten years later.
She traveled to Bath, Southampton, Chatham, Winchester and other places, but never gave up writing, leaving behind 6 novels, several short stories and poems. In her novels, she used meticulous observation and humorous brushstrokes to truly depict the social form and human relationships of the time, especially the marriage and love affairs between gentlemen and ladies, inheriting and developing the British realistic tradition of the 18th century, and preparing for the climax of realistic novels in the 19th century.
He died of illness in 1817 at the age of 41. He was buried in Winchester Cathedral, where a monument was set up for future generations to mourn.
