【Book Introduction】
Alain Badiou is a famous contemporary French philosopher and a left-wing scholar in the contemporary world who is as famous as Zizek and Agamben. In this short and powerful work, Badiou analyzes the relationship between philosophical life and happiness in a vivid way, explains in a simple way "What is the task of philosophy?", presents the way to seek true happiness, and shows the significance of his philosophy to our lives today.
He named the book with the seemingly paradoxical title "The Metaphysics of Authentic Happiness", and concisely answered a series of questions such as philosophy and the desire for philosophy, the tension between philosophy and anti-philosophy under the test of happiness, whether the world must be changed for happiness, and the connection between the destination of philosophy and emotion.

The world today is confronted with four major obstacles and necessary pressures: the domination of commodities, the domination of communication, the universality of money, and the specialization of production and technology, which reduce the irresistible idea of true life and happiness to a semblance of consumer satisfaction. How can philosophy meet this challenge? Can it meet the challenge? Is it capable of doing so?
In this book, Alain Badiou points out that any philosophy is a metaphysics of happiness. Badiou clarifies the task of philosophy and tries to give a definition of happiness: "True philosophy constantly rises up against the injustice of the world"; "Happiness can only be achieved when an individual accepts becoming a subject"; "All true happiness is based on the liberation of time"; "Any happiness is a victory against finiteness"...
