Description
Introduction · · · · · ·
This book tells the stories behind the photos that 62 photographers have never taken. Some of them are well-known photographers such as Roger Ballen, Nadav Kander, Mary Ellen Mark, Alec Soth, and Alex Webb, and some are professional photographers who take photography as their career. The narrators of each story did not use the way they are best at, that is, to record through the lens, but gave up recording when they could press the shutter, choosing the latter between photos and memories - photography is simplified to its most primitive state: inspiration, impulse, thinking, and instant touch.
These experiences and stories that have never been shown through the lens may bring us closer to the true nature of photography. Photography begins with the sensitive mind that "wants to take pictures", not the camera. These "absent photos" depicted through stories hit the heart directly. They present the "original intention" of photography in the most primitive and direct way without any cover. This is the "spiritual negative" of photographers, which depicts an unedited world that does not exist in a single frame.
