Introduction

A surprising story dedicated to naughty kids by one of the world's three greatest biographers

A coming-of-age fable beloved by generations of French people

◎ Editor's Recommendation

☆ The first translation and publication of two children's literature works by Maurois, one of the world's three major biographers

André Maurois is a famous French novelist and biographer in the 20th century. He is known as one of the "three great biographers in the world" along with Zweig and Troyer, and is the founder of the genre of biographical literature. This is the first time that two novellas written by Maurois for children have been translated and published in simplified Chinese: the works of the same name "The Land of Fat and the Land of Thin" and "The Land of 36,000 Wishes". The author transforms himself into a "child king" and presents surprise stories to all naughty kids, troublemakers and children who are growing up recklessly. The master's playfulness, humor and childlike heart are fully revealed.

☆ A French classic loved by generations, containing the great writer's advanced educational philosophy

The Land of Fat and Thin was created during the World War. The pain brought by the war made Maurois reflect on himself, but he did not shout slogans. Instead, he created fun and readable stories for his sons, and cleverly integrated the analysis of "war and peace", "sameness and difference", and "good and evil" into colorful children's works. As a French classic, the image creation of the funny brothers, the extraordinary imagination of the underground kingdom, and the wonderful description of the war between the fat and thin countries have been loved by generations of people in France and even around the world.

The protagonist in "The Land of 36,000 Wishes" loves fantasy and play just like every other child. It is this innocence that opens the door to the Land of Wishes for her. There, children become the masters of the world, letting their nature run wild, exploring boundaries, learning how to use freedom reasonably, and how to live with others. The story is fantastic and fascinating, and it sparked heated discussions in the French education community at the time, bringing a new trend.

☆ 25 full-color illustrations, drawing quirky and funny pictures

Young Chinese illustrator Joan Fsky devoted himself to drawing 25 full-color illustrations, using brilliant colors and naive images to vividly depict the romantic and lovely story scenes: a marshal whose belly is bigger than a country market, a romantic island with hundreds of miles of pink roses, a myriad of strange kinds of fairy wings, a delicious picnic that appears out of thin air... the good shows continue between the turns of the pages.

☆ Beautiful binding that can be treasured for a lifetime, planting the seeds of literature for children

This book is one of the series of books "Great Writers Written for Children" published by Langhua Duoduo. The printing and binding of this series are excellent and superior to similar products: the square-spine hardcover with a dust jacket and the carefully designed cover give the classic story a new flavor; the text is printed in full color and matched with off-white offset paper, presenting a soft visual effect to protect children's eyesight.
