About the book · · · · · ·
"The Postmodern Series • The Rules of Art: Genesis and Structure of the Literary Field (Revised Edition)" clearly demonstrates Bourdieu's profound analysis of the entire social structure and cognitive structure based on the field of literature and art, as well as his principle of combining social theory with empirical research. We can see that he is adept at navigating between theoretical abstraction and empirical specificity, organically combining seemingly unrelated imaginative fields and analytical foci. Although he has a deep academic background, he advocates practical methods, which is particularly reflected in his proposed free politics of intellectuals. Undoubtedly, this has great significance in today's world. He believes that no matter what field, it is controlled and influenced by the political and social spheres. As the global political landscape becomes increasingly complex, how various fields, especially the literary and artistic fields, will develop is a question that each of us in our respective fields should ponder.
About the author · · · · · ·
Pierre Bourdieu (1930-2002) was a French sociologist and anthropologist. He founded the theory of constructive structuralism, centered on concepts such as habitus, field, and symbolic violence, and dedicated himself to analyzing the reproduction mechanisms of social hierarchy and the cultural and symbolic factors in the reproduction process. His ideas had a great influence on the humanities and social sciences, especially post-war French sociology. His main works include "The Inheritors" (1964), "Reproduction in Education, Society and Culture" (1970), "Distinction: A Social Critique of the Judgement of Taste" (1979), "The Logic of Practice" (1981), "The State Nobility: Elite Schools in the Field of Power" (1989), and "Science of Science and Reflexivity" (2001).
