Description
Introduction · · · · · ·
"Xu Sanguan Selling Blood" is a novel written by Yu Hua in 1995. The story takes place in China in the 1950s and 1960s. It tells the story of Xu Sanguan, a silk factory worker, who sells blood. He sells blood to get married, to save his seriously ill son, to entertain guests, to avoid starvation, and to survive. But in the end, it is still for love and ridiculous dignity.
"Xu Sanguan Selling Blood" is a vivid portrayal of Chinese life. Yu Hua uses a humorous way to explain the absurdity of the whole society. He created a group of little people with a fervent desire for life who can stick to their dignity and unite at the critical moment of life and death. This is an outstanding work that vividly depicts the world view, life view, and values of Chinese civilians - the "three views".
