Description
Introduction · · · · · ·
Psychologists have always been considered the best observers of human nature. Who would have thought that they would also be easily deceived? When the visitor walks to the treatment chair full of lies, the outcome will be far beyond everyone's expectations. The conversation during the treatment process is both true and false. Between transference and counter-transference, deception and betrayal, what is exposed is the true human nature.
Psychological counselors are also human beings and have the same emotional and personality weaknesses as ordinary people. When they get into trouble, how should they heal themselves and how should they responsibly guide their clients?
In the book, Irvin Yalom uses carefully designed and cleverly coherent screenwriting techniques to explore transference and countertransference in the process of psychotherapy, childhood experiences, the principles of psychotherapy, how to promote the most important changes in clients, how to supervise the training of psychotherapists, etc. It is the most practical clinical practice book on psychological counseling, with ingenious and rigorous plot conception, a series of interlocking mechanisms, ups and downs, and high drama.
"Lies on the Chair" has the common features of all of Yalom's novels: a strong professional background, a writing style full of metaphors and humor, and an unexpected ending. In terms of biting satire, "Lies on the Chair" is the best among all of Yalom's novels.
