Description
C.S. Lewis is known as the most influential Christian apologist of the 20th century in Britain, and Mere Christianity is his most impactful work, with millions of copies sold.
Mere Christianity originated from a series of wartime talks that C.S. Lewis delivered for the BBC during World War II. In this book, Lewis uses accessible language, vivid analogies, and rigorous reasoning to articulate "the faith that has been held by almost all Christians at all times."
Mere Christianity is widely considered Lewis's most popular work and is acclaimed as one of the most important religious books of the twentieth century.
About the Author
C.S. Lewis (1898-1963) was a brilliant British writer of the 20th century. At the age of 26, he was appointed to a position at Oxford University and was hailed by his contemporaries as "the greatest Oxonian." In 1954, he was appointed Professor of Medieval and Renaissance English Literature at Cambridge University, a title he held until his retirement.
He accomplished three very different careers in his lifetime, earning him the moniker "the three C.S. Lewises": first, an outstanding literary historian and critic at Oxford and Cambridge universities, with representative works including English Literature in the Sixteenth Century (Excluding Drama). Second, a popular science fiction and children's literature writer, with representative works including "The Space Trilogy" and "The Chronicles of Narnia" (seven books). Third, a popular Christian theologian and speaker, with representative works including Mere Christianity, The Four Loves, The Great Divorce, and The Screwtape Letters.
