"Reading is a Portable Refuge" Author: [British] William Somerset Maugham Subtitle: Maugham Teaches You How to Read
Description
Introduction · · · · · ·
◆Use a study to resist this imperfect world and use a book to guide our reading interests.
The reading guide of the genius novelist Maugham teaches you the methods and techniques of reading and tells you the secrets of masters and great writers.
◆About how to read, the secrets of masters and great men, the truth of deep thinking,
Maugham tells the story from three different dimensions, expressing his most unique insights.
He uses extremely high literary standards to paint realistic portraits of the great writers he writes about.
◆People who love reading are happy--as Maugham said:
"To cultivate the habit of reading is to build for yourself a refuge from almost all the pain and misery in the world.
When it comes to Maugham's style, perhaps the first thing that comes to readers' minds is his sharp tongue, humor, weirdness, and even harshness, but they overlook his sincerity and honesty underneath it all, as well as his intentional or unintentional emphasis on fun or interest.
In this book, whether the topic is the art of novels or the thinking about philosophy, art and the value of life, Maugham's persistence in fun can be seen everywhere. His language is clever and sophisticated, fluent and refined, but he is neither pretentious nor complacent. Reading it is like sitting opposite you, listening to him talk with his genius sense of humor, teaching you how to read, the fun of reading, the gossip of famous people, the complaints about famous works, and his own feelings and thoughts between disgust and love for people and things.

How you think determines how you live. I find it very interesting to read philosophy. There is no one book that can solve all problems once and for all. My opinion on truth, beauty and goodness.
