Zhang Huiwen was born in 1978 and her ancestral home is in Henan. She graduated from the Business School of the National University of Singapore and currently lives in Boston, USA. She has published short story collections "Two Encounters", "A Moment of Light, Color and Shadow", and "In the South", and a collection of essays "When I Was a Perplexed Youth". She has won many awards, including the Singapore Golden Pen Award, the First People's Literature Newcomer Award, the Overseas Chinese Zhongshan Literature Award, the Shanghai Literature Award, the Chu Jiwang Literature Award, and the First Cao Xueqin Chinese Literature Award.
