Description
Introduction · · · · · ·
In October 1928, Woolf gave two speeches on the topic of "Women and Fiction" at two women's colleges at Cambridge University. The following year, she compiled the content of the speeches into an article titled "Women and Fiction" and later revised and expanded it significantly, eventually writing the masterpiece "A Room of One's Own". This long article is delicate and humorous, full of imagination, and full of wisdom. It tells the plight of women's survival in a male-dominated society, the historical prejudice against women, and the impact of women's poverty on their creation. It encourages women to strive for an independent economic status, actively achieve self-realization, and open up their lives.
This book includes another famous essay by Woolf, "Mr. Bennett and Mrs. Brown".
◎ You don’t have to be anyone other than yourself. ◎ Whatever the method, I hope you have enough money to travel, to relax, to ponder the past or future of the world, to read books and dream, to wander the streets and alleys, and to let the fishing line of thought sink deep into the river of life.
