About the Author

Bill Bryson is a world-renowned travel writer. He was born in Iowa, USA in 1951 and graduated from Drake University. From 1973, he lived in the UK for 20 years, working for The Times and The Independent, and also wrote for The New York Times, National Geographic Magazine and other publications. He later moved back to the United States and now lives in Hanover, New Hampshire with his wife and four children.

Bryson is good at looking at the world he travels to with different eyes. In his books, British wisdom and humor are perfectly combined with American comedy. His acerbic and erudite words are full of humor, wit and wisdom, making him "the most interesting travel writer alive today" (The Times).

His representative works include Ha! Little Britain, Europe is Fermenting, One Foot into Little America, Don't Mess with the Mountain, Is This America?, etc. Each of them is at the top of the bestseller lists in the United States, Britain and Canada. Among them, Ha! Little Britain was selected by British readers as "the work that can most profoundly convey the British soul".

The author is not only talented, but also has a wide range of interests. In the field of linguistics, he has written books such as "Dictionary of Troublesome Words", "Mother Tongue", and "American English", all of which are humorous works with a large number of fans.
