I have experienced many unforgettable journeys, living in rural Japan, living in East Africa, and hiking in Sweden, Tahiti and other places to find inspiration. Recently, I went on an adventure trip from San Francisco Bay to Amsterdam, Massachusetts.

Before becoming a picture book writer, Becker was a film animation designer and film and television set painter. He participated in the production of films such as The Polar Express and Monster House. The Incredible Journey is his first picture book, which shows rich imagination and profound animation production skills. It has been on the New York Times bestseller list since its publication, and won the New York Times Best Picture Book of the Year and the American Caldecott Medal.
