Description
Introduction
From 1946 to 1947, Feng Youlan served as a visiting professor at the University of Pennsylvania, teaching the history of Chinese philosophy. His English lecture notes were compiled into A Brief History of Chinese Philosophy, which was published by Macmillan in 1948. As soon as this book was published, it immediately became the best choice for Westerners to quickly understand and learn Chinese philosophy; many translations were later published in French, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, etc. For decades, this monograph has been a common textbook for Chinese philosophy courses at many world-renowned universities such as Columbia University and the University of Pennsylvania, and it is world-renowned.
In 1985, Mr. Tu Youguang first translated this book into Chinese, and Chinese readers were able to meet this excellent work on the history of philosophy. In the early 21st century, under the new research background, Mr. Zhao Fusan put forward different views on some of Tu's translations, and then retranslated this book, which more accurately and popularly conveyed the spirit of the author's original work.
