Gabriel García Márquez (Gabriel García Márquez) was born in 1927 in Aracataca, a coastal town in Magdalena, Colombia. He lived with his grandparents during his childhood. In 1936, he moved with his parents to Sucre. In 1947, he was admitted to the National University of Colombia in Bogotá. In 1948, he dropped out due to civil war and entered journalism. He began publishing literary works in the 1950s. In the early 1960s, he moved to Mexico. In 1967, "One Hundred Years of Solitude" was published. In 1981, "Chronicle of a Death Foretold" was published. In 1982, he received the Nobel Prize in Literature.
