The author starts with traditional Chinese culture and draws on current trends to discuss ultimate issues such as "heart", "self", "freedom", "fate", and "Tao", without departing from the daily attitude of life, inspiring readers to trace the roots of their own national traditions and think about the fundamentals of Chinese people's survival in modern society.
