Description
Introduction · · · · · ·
Gombrich once wrote in the opening of his famous book The Story of Art: "Without artists, there would be no art history." This is enough to show that great artists can be compared with great works of art handed down from generation to generation. When we appreciate Chinese art works, have we ever paid attention to the masters of art behind the works of art?
Based on the historical records of art history handed down from generation to generation, this book selects more than 170 artists who have played an important role in the history of Chinese art from the Wei and Jin Dynasties to the late Qing Dynasty. At the same time, the book is also equipped with more than 200 illustrations of works and 30 interesting background knowledge. In a combination of pictures and texts, the book vividly and concisely tells the life experiences, teachers, creative anecdotes, and influences of these artists on later generations.
This book also includes complete pages of the famous Chinese paintings "Night Revels of Han Xizai" and "Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains" for the readers.
