◎ Introduction

The "Great Writers Write for Children" series of books selects children's literature works compiled by world literary masters, aiming to provide domestic young readers with literary reading materials that are close to classics, easy to read, and broaden their horizons.

Cummings, an outstanding poet of the 20th century, wrote these four fairy tales and a short poem with his love and longing for children. The sincere emotions in the stories are moving, and the poetic blank space combined with the wild imagination creates a colorful fairy tale world with the smell of butter and jam and the breath of a wet rainforest.

Why does the white-bearded old man on a distant planet always say "why"?

How did the elephant and the butterfly, the house and the bird meet and get to know each other?

Has the little girl named "I" found a partner to drink tea with?

◎ Media Recommendation

☆ "The Elephant and the Butterfly" and "The House That Eats Mosquito Pies" in the book are both stories of love between different species, conveying warm and positive ideas.

——Publishers Weekly

☆ Very creative and original, any reader who likes mysteries and stories with morals will find it entertaining.

——Goodreads

☆ The story in the book is sweet, but what is sweeter is the story behind the story.

——Amazon Book Review

◎ Celebrity recommendation

I know of no modern poet who has such a clear, childlike perception as Cummings. He has an unaffected joy and wonder in his approach to things, and this directness creates a clarity of vision that strikes directly at the heart.

—Linguist Samuel Hayakawa
