About the Author
Professor Liu Duzhou (1917-2001) was born in Yingkou City, Liaoning Province. He began to study medicine at the age of 16 for seven years. After graduating from the school, he practiced medicine in Dalian. In 1945, he came to Beijing and practiced medicine in Qianliang Hutong. In 1950, he was admitted to the Ministry of Health's School of Traditional Chinese Medicine to study basic knowledge of Western medicine and clinical courses. In 1956, he was transferred to the newly established Beijing College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (now Beijing University of Chinese Medicine). He served as deputy director and director of the Department of Cold Damage, director of the Department of Classical Medicine, director of the Department of Golden Chamber, head of the Department of Basic Traditional Chinese Medicine, editor-in-chief and honorary editor-in-chief of the Journal of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, and member of the Academic Committee of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine.
He has been engaged in TCM education for nearly half a century and has rich teaching experience. He is an outstanding TCM educator, one of the first batch of TCM professors approved by the State Education Commission, and one of the first batch of TCM master's and doctoral supervisors in my country. He enjoys the government subsidy issued by the State Council. He has trained a large number of TCM talents at all levels, including 24 masters, 12 doctors, and several disciples. In addition to teaching and clinical practice, he has been writing and has written a lot of works. He has compiled and published more than 30 academic works and more than 110 academic papers. The project "Compilation and Research of Treatise on Febrile Diseases" hosted by him won the Science and Technology Progress Award of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. For many years, he has been actively committed to TCM academic exchange activities, established and presided over the National Zhongjing Academic Professional Committee, and organized international and domestic Zhongjing academic exchange conferences many times, which greatly promoted the inheritance and development of Zhongjing's academic. He has also been invited to Japan to give lectures many times, and visited Singapore, Australia, Hong Kong and other places for exchanges to promote TCM.
He is not only a scholar, educator, but also a famous doctor. Since he started his career in education, he has never stopped his clinical work. He traced back to the teachings of Qi Huang and the theories of various schools, and advocated the teachings of Zhongjing. He learned from many schools and had rich experience.
