Jeanette Winterson
A contemporary British writer. Born in August 1959, she was adopted by a devout Christian family. She ran away at the age of 16 and then completed her studies at Oxford University by working part-time in funeral homes and mental hospitals. In 1985, her debut novel Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit was published, which won the Whitbread First Novel Award in the UK and won international reputation. In 2016, Winterson was selected into the list of "BBC 100 Outstanding Women". Her representative works include I Want to Be Happy, Not Normal, Written on the Body, Gendering Cherries, etc.
