About the Author

Chizuko Ueno was born in 1948. She is an honorary professor at the University of Tokyo, Japan. She is a famous contemporary sociologist and a leader in Japanese feminist theory and movement. About the Translator

Wang Lan was born in Chongqing in 1966. She graduated from the Japanese language major of the Foreign Language Department of Sichuan University in 1987. She received her doctorate in language and culture from Osaka University in Japan in 2006. She is currently a part-time lecturer at Osaka University.
